The birds are chirping, and flowers are blooming; it's time to take the winter blues out of your home. By following these simple cleaning tasks, you'll be breathing new life into your home.
Open a window, grab your supplies, and let's dig in!
Overhaul Your Cleaning Supplies
Take an inventory of your cleaning products and tools. If you're looking to make a switch to eco-friendly cleaning supplies this spring, check out our list.
Makeup, Beauty, And Supplies
Get rid of any expired makeup, skincare and hair products. This will free up space in your smaller storage areas and remove any products that will not work to their best capability. Don't forget to clean those makeup brushes!
Declutter Rooms, Cabinets, And Closets
Spring cleaning wouldn't be complete without a declutter. Go into every room and closet and remove clothing, towels, and other objects you no longer use or need. Don't forget your kitchen cabinets! Doing this seasonally can help cut down on the amount of underused and wanted things in your home. Sell them online or donate them.
Clean Out The Fridge
Along with wiping down your fridge exterior for that added shine, it's time to tackle the inside. Remove the bins and shelves and give the interior a deep clean. Use warm soapy water to rid of stains, bacteria and spills.
Clean The Oven
Use your appliance's self-cleaning function to remove baked-on grime. You can also soak the tough spots with hot water, sprinkle baking powder, and a heavy-duty pad. Rinse and wipe dry.
Run A Cleaning Cycle On Your Dishwasher and Kettle
Give your dishwasher a cleaning by using white vinegar in the machine and run it on a hot cycle. This will help with any calcium buildup – improving the longevity of your machine for years to come. To clean your kettle, pour equal parts water and white vinegar, bring to a boil, and then let it sit for a few hours. Pour out the mix and clean out with dish soap.
Freshen Up Decorative Pillows
If possible, toss decorative pillows into the dryer in a hot setting or in the freezer for a day to kill dust mites.
Vacuum Your Mattress
Remove all bedding and vacuum the top and sides of the mattress with the upholstery attachment. If you notice any stains, sprinkle baking soda, let it sit for 30 minutes and then vacuum it up.
Once you're done spring cleaning, add splashes of colour throughout your home with flowering houseplants.
