Add Beauty To Your Home With Flowering Houseplants
Add a little bit of colour inside your home with these flowering houseplants

If you're looking to add bright splashes of colour to your home, you've come to the right place. Here's how to choose the perfect plant for your indoor space and some of our favourites.
Things to Consider When Choosing A Flowering Houseplant
When you are shopping for your new plants, keep these tips in mind:
- Look for healthy plants - check the flowers and foliage for any bugs or disease
- Check the tag or ask staff how much sunlight they need. It's a good idea to walk into the garden centre with an idea of this information so you can get the ideal plant for your light situation.
- Don't choose one that is in full bloom – plants that are closed buds will open up gradually, offering you a longer display of flowers.
- How much water and maintenance does it need? Some plants need moist soil, while others are okay with drying out a bit in between watering. Others may need consistent humidity to flourish.
The Best Flowering Houseplants
African Violet
These dainty, traditional plants are perfect for windowsills that receive a few hours of indirect sunlight. Avoid letting the soil dry out completely between watering. When you do water, aim to get it on the soil – water on the leaves can cause brown spots.
Anthurium
They are cherished for their coral, pink, or red flowers. They thrive in bright, indirect sunlight and higher humidity. Keep soil moist but not soaked. They will provide vertical interest to your indoor garden. In winter, keep away from windows as they don't enjoy cooler temperatures.
Cyclamen
Vibrant pink, lilac, red or white flowers blossom on top of heart-shaped green foliage, often with silvery veins. These plants prefer bright light and cooler temperatures.
Jasmine
If you're looking for a fragrant plant, you'll love jasmine in your home. The bright white flowers will fill your space with the sweet smell of jasmine. To get yearly blooms, the plant will need a chill period to stimulate flowering—place in an area with a few hours of direct sunlight. Keep soil moist and ensure the container has drainage holes.
Crown Of Thorns
If you're looking for an exotic flowering plant, you'll adore the Crown Of Thorns. Even indoors, it can flower all year with lots of bright sunlight – the more prolific the blooms will be.
Kalanchoe
These succulent-type plants are covered in vibrant blooms of pink, orange, red, yellow, or a classy white. The flower clusters will last for weeks. They flower best in bright, direct sunlight and should be allowed to dry out in between watering. When flowers are done, trim off the old blooms.
Orchid
With proper soil, sunlight, and watering, orchids can flower for months on end. Place in an area with bright, indirect light (east or west-facing window is best). Water weekly but avoid letting water sit in the bottom of the saucer.
