Pumpkin vases have been trendy the last couple of years. Mixing succulents, dried foliage, mosses, and fresh flowers come together to brighten up any living space. They also make a fun craft for people of all ages.
Whether you are planning your décor for Thanksgiving weekend or are looking to brighten up your home with the colours of fall, pumpkin centrepieces are sure to inspire.
Here are some tips for making a pumpkin centrepiece and festive tablescape.
What you'll need:
- Dried or Fresh Bouquet
- Pumpkin Vase
- Moss
- Foam Base
- Snips/Scissors
Pick Your Pumpkin
The first step is to choose your pumpkin. You can use miniature ones if you're looking to fill a small space, or you can choose a medium pumpkin if you're looking to create a vibrant focal point.
You can use plastic pumpkins, too – a hot glue gun will work wonders, and it will make less of a mess.
Tip: if you're looking for a unique style, try using white pumpkins, or paint it in whichever colour you desire.
Dig In
Once you choose your pumpkin, slice off the top, remove the pulp and seeds, and replace the inside of the pumpkin with floral foam or wire. If you are opting to use succulents, you can use a potting mix.
Think about the height and texture of all the elements you are using - you may want to use taller flowers in the center and then have foliage drape off the side.
Creating a Tablescape
- Once your pumpkin is ready to be the center of attention, here are some tips to decorate the space:
- Choose an autumn-inspired table runner. Burgundy, browns, and rusty oranges generally work best.
- Incorporate dried or fake vines, foliage, acorns, dried flowers, pinecones, nuts, gourds, or twigs around the pumpkin.
- Place miniature pumpkins around larger ones
